Tease Me Please Me V2 by Skinny Pete Promotions.

Thursday 4th of March saw The Roffen Suite host another bout of burlesque, dance and music courtesy of Skinny Pete Promotions, Kent’s number one burlesque and cabaret night.  A wonderful buffet was put on for the staff and guests and an eclectic mix of performances took place on the night.  Hostess of the evening was the lovely Tempest Rose, who did a fantastic job seducing the audience gently into a night of burlesque.  She finished the night of with an act of her own which was both elegant and funny.  She also sang with Cabaret Rouge, a fantastic dance act treating us to both Las Vegas and Charleston dances.  The Timeless Beauties sang with their Bunny girls and Domino Burlesk performed wonderfully twice, Vivica devine treated us to two acts, her Lion Tamer signature act, and a brand new fun act, Dr Havargo.  The Baroness Tamara Von Stein Zu Leitershofen did a great job of intimidating the audience whilst educating them in opera singing.  VJ Spankie also performed with an ingenious vilolin act complete with fantastic wig.  Miss Maybe and the Pizza boy was both funny and sad, and Kandy Sprinkles, winner of the first Time Follies night also performed a new and fun act.

See some perfomance shots below with a small gallery too.

Anti Valentine Burlesk Club

Another fantastic Burlesque Club event hosted by Severine Sinful at Venuu in Hastings on Feb 12th. It was a great mix of entertainment with new comedy acts and a brand new balloon act by resident star act Domino Burlesque and two singing performances from Severine Sinful.  See below for a little taste of the night.

0000-guests-7.jpg

Guests were well dressed as usual.  Above is Jessi whom I recognised from an event 6 months ago.

0000-sev-1.jpg

Severine worked really hard on the night and had plenty of fun and games with the audience.  When she wasn’t announcing the acts or giving out raffle prizes, we were treated to a song.  Great job!

0000-performers-6.jpg

Domino Burlesque gave us a new balloon act which was lots of fun and a perfect end to the night.  Other performances from Vivica Devine, Peski Deville, Rose Thorne and comedy from El Kapitan.

0000-staff-12.jpg

For me its the staff that really make these nights, without hostesses and behind the scenes people, it just wouldn’t be burlesque.  Below are some more pictures of staff and off duty performers.  Great night all round, well done to everyone involved.  Check the links page for the next event.

Laura’s 21st Birthday Party

Well its was a great night for my friend Laura on her 21st Birthday.  The evening took place at HEYJO’s nightclub in London’s Mayfair and was themed as a fancy dress burlesque night.  I think its harder for guys in these situations as they are totally overshadowed by the wonderfully dressed girls.  Lots of fun was had and it was really nice to meet so many of Laura’s friends.  Its an interesting venue with lots of attention to detail and lots of opulent seating behind half drawn red curtains.  Despite this my favorite shots of the night happened outside in the street during the smoking breaks.  Thanks to everyone for dressing so nicely and being so friendly.  These are my favorite, enjoy.  Click any pic for larger versions.

Inquire

A photo of mine featured on Inquire website for Kent. The article is a well written one and reflects on my thoughts about burlesque. Yewande who wrote the article got it straight away and expressed herself beautifully, “Burlesque empowers women.” Read the article and judge for yourself. Click the pic to go straight there. (hope they have sorted out the picture size on their site)

First Time Follies

Last week saw a sellout show for Skinny Pete Promotions Skinny Pete website in Canterbury with his First Time Follies burlesk competition. I’ve been furiously working on the photos but have had a lot on so apologies if you’ve been waiting for these.

Below is a link to small versions of 255 photos of the night. You can download them all on the first page once you’ve clicked the link. Feel free to use the photos for your facebook or whatever you like.
Click here for the free album

If you want hi res versions then please leave a donation via the payments page and I’ll send you a link.

If you were a performer or part of the staff then please get in contact and I’ll send you a link to a special performers album with over 500 shots of the 13 performers and various staff.

Now read on for a little write up of the night. As there are so many photos and so little time I just randomly selected some shots I like to give you a taste of the night.

000-trixie-sparklep.jpg

Trixie Sparkle.  Very funny act.

006-030-lydia-8.jpg007-028-lydia-p.jpg

The very beautiful Lydia.  A burlesque night distinguishes itself from a common strip night in many ways.  One of those ways are the hostesses, there to help prepare the stage for the next act.  Lydia did a fantastic job along with the other hostesses, beaming out smiles and hospitality all round.

001honey-schnapps-p.jpg

Honey Schnapps.  Authentic grease monkey tough girl.  Great performance.

041-011-tia-brodie-5.jpgThe gorgeous Tia Brodie wowed us with her fantastic voice and her curvy figure.

003-017-piractica-p.jpg

The slightly shy but lovely Piratica, once a hostess, now a performer.  Great job on the night.

002-105-fluffy-bunster-15.jpg

013-fluffy-bunster.jpgThe lovely Fluffy Bunster.  She had a fantastic costume that she made herself and she was lots of fun on the night.

The wonderful Beccy.  First person to get me a drink at a gig everand there to brighten up the place and help everyone.  A true hostess.

Another hostess Kerri.  One of my favorite shots of the night.  Kerrie and I might work together in the future and she was lots of fun on the night.  I took this shot in the interval.

Miss Kandy Sprinkles, voted the winner independently by both the audience and the judges.  What was it about her show that won the night?  For me it was her incredible energy during her performance.

040-062-queenie-valentine-4.jpg

Queenie Valentine.  Great act, lots of character.

012-084-glory-pearl-2.jpg

And the hostesses of the evening, burlesque and cabaret veteran Glory Pearl.  Combining pole work, ariel antics, comedy and plenty of sass, First Time Follies was lucky enough to have this talented lady announcing the various acts.

014-skinny-pete.jpg

I’ve heard one performer name him ‘Darling Pete’.  The man behind the magic of Skinny Pete Promotions.

027-severine-and-domino.jpg

Two of the Judges, Serverine Sinful and Domino Burlesk, performers and promoters with tons of experience.  Well qualified for the job.  Domino managed to come along despite feeling poorly so well done.

030-032-pixie-frisk-1.jpg

The beautiful Pixie Frisk.  wonderful expressions on this performer who comes from an acting background.  Super outfit, great act and wonderful girl.

The Time Between Times

Thanks to everyone that came along to my first solo exhibition. Thanks to Ian, Claire and Paul for all their help and thanks to Caroline for dashing back from London to attend and help me clear up.

For those of you that couldn’t make it I made this small video to mark the occasion.

Despite not being ready on time it went fantastically well and it was great to see it all hanging up in all its glory.

Although the exhibition is previewed in this video, it is nothing like seeing the prints in person.

Music by The Penguin Cafe Orchestra - Music For A Found Harmonium

I managed to get a large spread in the local paper too, so thanks to Robert Alderson for writing the article.

Exhibition in Hastings

Well its been a mad week with the snow, and one of the knock on effects was that my first solo exhibition was pushed back a week.  I was so disappointed but now I’m looking forward to Saturday.  Its strange this exhibiting lark.  Now that I’ve started properly I have so much to show beyond the 13 photographs in this exhibition.  Well have a look at the flyer below for all the details and a taster image.  See you there.Exhibition Flyer

Gypsy Hotel and Timeout

43gypsy-hotelpr-hi-res-7.jpg

It seems the Gypsy Hotel club night is going from strength to strength. Timeout has included a photo of mine in their website with a piece on the upcoming night on Saturday 16th January. Its made the critics choice and that is a high accolade from a magazine as established as Timeout. Excellent! Click the pic for a larger version

Gypsy Hotel NYE

Well its been a week of snow and I’ve been hard at work sorting out my massive photo library. Some measure of organisation is forming so look forward to plenty of new stuff.

So Gypsy Hotel ran a new years eve night at Bardens in London and it was a intimate and fun affair. We had various act, including live music from, Ria Green, Rasp Thorne, Matt Millership and The Urban Voodoo Machine, and dark cabaret from Captian Howdy’s Flying Circus, Suri Sumatra, Lady Ane Angel and Lalla Morte with Chris Martin.  Everyone was on top form BUT THE URBAN VOODOO MACHINE were just inspiring, giving everyone a huge treat, filling the stage and managing to move around plenty despite the squeeze, for more than two hours.

All the performers stood up and gave us a little Midnight show which was a treat. Here a few shots and a gallery of performers and portraits. Follow the links below for facebook albums and links to more Urban Voodoo Machine photos on their website.
Happy New Year and lets hope 2010 is the start to a great decade.
