Boom Boom Club – Old Vic Tunnels

I’ve been meaning to go along to Boom Boom for a while now.  Its a really impressive burlesque and cabaret night with decent bands thrown in.  The Old Vic Tunnels is a wonderful venue that I visited for the New York Dolls gig back in February.  A few of the people involved are friends of friends so it was nice to catch up as well us bump into other people I knew including The Late Night Shop and Kitty Bangbang.  Anyway to sum up the night one punter said to me that coming to the club was like being on the set of a the Mighty Boosh.  Sexy novelty, impressive ariel, acrobatic balancing, and fire shows delighted the audience.  Enough said.

Look out for much more from them this year.

New Orleans 9.11.11.

We were over in New Orleans for Pr and Ane’s wedding, so what better time for an international Gypsy Hotel?

New Orleans is all about art and music so it was great to mix with the cool locals at the All Ways lounge on St Claude.

Thanks to Rebecca for being the loveliest bar maid and for getting my woman drunk on Jack Daniels.  Was great to meet Maddie and Vic too, as well as English Craig and Tim.

Married girl is officially a favorite now.

The Cheek Of It

The Cheek of It Burlesque School is a breeding ground for the next big thing in Burlesque.

I was thrilled to be asked to cover the graduation night with fellow photographer Tigz Rice,

this time actually performing herself as Raven Six.

All the girls were great but Tigz did outdo herself with a great performance.

Friendly vibe and a great show, and I got to meet the refined and beautiful Lady Cheek herself, as well as see her perform.

Bumped into several people too, among them Banbury Cross and Betsy Rose.

Lovely to see everyone and good to see Tigz get so much support.

I include here all 400+  photos from the night in small with a logo.

Please feel free to use the photos as you wish but please don’t tamper with them or remove the logo.

Gypsy Hotel November 2011

The first gypsy Hotel after New Orleans was another intimate affair at The Lexington.

Keeda Breeze (below) took control of the burlesque for the night with two acts and Jack Rabbit Slim entertained brilliantly.

PR was in his sailor outfit and partying hard after NOLA.

I arrived after covering a hen night so missed the other bands.

Great fun all round, find out more on facebook link below

Apocalypse Gameshow

This is one of the best and most original nights I’ve been too in recent months.  Musician and performer Tom Baker invited me along and was the host for the evening, Dexter Sinister.  Once in costume he would not answer to Tom and the whole cast literally became their characters for the evening.  Guests were processed and then the game show began, entertaining in a random cabaret style, and educating with its facts and figures about our possible demise in the near future if current world practices continue.  The contestant depending on their choices, set off mini cabaret performances from the talented cast.

Brilliant stuff.
