As I write this I’m packing the final bits for my trip to Oman, and the snow has just started outside.
This will hopefully be my last update until I return on Feb 15th, if I manage to get there in the first place.
Something about January, especially toward the end of the month, is ripe for a good party.
Ran into Marnie Scarlet again and had some time for some drinks and smokes too this time.
All the performers stayed, and the backstage was like the kitchen in a party at home, everyone crowded in there chatting and drinking, then more, but the less said about that the better.
I pity those that had to clear up.
Following that we were back there again at the Lexington to shoot a video for the Urban Voodoo Machine’s forthcoming single, I’d Rather You Shot Me Down.
Anthony and Miranda pictured below will be helping with the video, Anthony filming and editing, Miranda doing the fonts and staring in it too. More on that later.

A very intimate affair was arranged this New Year’s at The Gypsy Hotel.
After all the excitement of The New Orleans Wedding something a little calmer was called for.
That is not to say that front room vibe of The Dalston Devil Trio wasn’t a perfect start to a debauched evening of the usual stomping bands and burlesque.
Great Stuff.
Held this year at Mass in Brixton it was a slightly smaller affair than usual but still a big party with 1500 guests. The only thing missing were the jacuzzi room but this didn’t detract from the evening. If anything more dancing went on than usual with a swing lesson as large as I’ve seen it. Hot food replaced the cheese and biscuit table but the naked people were still in evidence handing out oysters to the guests. Downstairs the intimate proximity of the band really added to the atmosphere. Guest were their usual elegant selves and the picture below is my favorite of the night. Very friendly girl very well dressed and her friend had a black bird on her head.

I’ve been meaning to go along to Boom Boom for a while now. Its a really impressive burlesque and cabaret night with decent bands thrown in. The Old Vic Tunnels is a wonderful venue that I visited for the New York Dolls gig back in February. A few of the people involved are friends of friends so it was nice to catch up as well us bump into other people I knew including The Late Night Shop and Kitty Bangbang. Anyway to sum up the night one punter said to me that coming to the club was like being on the set of a the Mighty Boosh. Sexy novelty, impressive ariel, acrobatic balancing, and fire shows delighted the audience. Enough said.
Look out for much more from them this year.

We were over in New Orleans for Pr and Ane’s wedding, so what better time for an international Gypsy Hotel?
New Orleans is all about art and music so it was great to mix with the cool locals at the All Ways lounge on St Claude.
Thanks to Rebecca for being the loveliest bar maid and for getting my woman drunk on Jack Daniels. Was great to meet Maddie and Vic too, as well as English Craig and Tim.
Married girl is officially a favorite now.
