Tease Me Please Me V2 by Skinny Pete Promotions.

Thursday 4th of March saw The Roffen Suite host another bout of burlesque, dance and music courtesy of Skinny Pete Promotions, Kent’s number one burlesque and cabaret night.  A wonderful buffet was put on for the staff and guests and an eclectic mix of performances took place on the night.  Hostess of the evening was the lovely Tempest Rose, who did a fantastic job seducing the audience gently into a night of burlesque.  She finished the night of with an act of her own which was both elegant and funny.  She also sang with Cabaret Rouge, a fantastic dance act treating us to both Las Vegas and Charleston dances.  The Timeless Beauties sang with their Bunny girls and Domino Burlesk performed wonderfully twice, Vivica devine treated us to two acts, her Lion Tamer signature act, and a brand new fun act, Dr Havargo.  The Baroness Tamara Von Stein Zu Leitershofen did a great job of intimidating the audience whilst educating them in opera singing.  VJ Spankie also performed with an ingenious vilolin act complete with fantastic wig.  Miss Maybe and the Pizza boy was both funny and sad, and Kandy Sprinkles, winner of the first Time Follies night also performed a new and fun act.

See some perfomance shots below with a small gallery too.

First Time Follies

Last week saw a sellout show for Skinny Pete Promotions Skinny Pete website in Canterbury with his First Time Follies burlesk competition. I’ve been furiously working on the photos but have had a lot on so apologies if you’ve been waiting for these.

Below is a link to small versions of 255 photos of the night. You can download them all on the first page once you’ve clicked the link. Feel free to use the photos for your facebook or whatever you like.
Click here for the free album

If you want hi res versions then please leave a donation via the payments page and I’ll send you a link.

If you were a performer or part of the staff then please get in contact and I’ll send you a link to a special performers album with over 500 shots of the 13 performers and various staff.

Now read on for a little write up of the night. As there are so many photos and so little time I just randomly selected some shots I like to give you a taste of the night.

000-trixie-sparklep.jpg

Trixie Sparkle.  Very funny act.

006-030-lydia-8.jpg007-028-lydia-p.jpg

The very beautiful Lydia.  A burlesque night distinguishes itself from a common strip night in many ways.  One of those ways are the hostesses, there to help prepare the stage for the next act.  Lydia did a fantastic job along with the other hostesses, beaming out smiles and hospitality all round.

001honey-schnapps-p.jpg

Honey Schnapps.  Authentic grease monkey tough girl.  Great performance.

041-011-tia-brodie-5.jpgThe gorgeous Tia Brodie wowed us with her fantastic voice and her curvy figure.

003-017-piractica-p.jpg

The slightly shy but lovely Piratica, once a hostess, now a performer.  Great job on the night.

002-105-fluffy-bunster-15.jpg

013-fluffy-bunster.jpgThe lovely Fluffy Bunster.  She had a fantastic costume that she made herself and she was lots of fun on the night.

The stunning Rosa Swan.

The wonderful Beccy.  First person to get me a drink at a gig everand there to brighten up the place and help everyone.  A true hostess.

kerri.jpg

Another hostess Kerri.  One of my favorite shots of the night.  Kerrie and I might work together in the future and she was lots of fun on the night.  I took this shot in the interval.

Lilly de Lure and Fluffy Bunster.

The very fun Delilah Cherryblossom.  Great girl, great act, and one fantastic dancer.

Pictured here with I think her boyfriend (with the camera) and with the sound engineer for the Timeless Beauties singing act.

019-178-miss-kandy-sprinkles-12.jpg

Miss Kandy Sprinkles, voted the winner independently by both the audience and the judges.  What was it about her show that won the night?  For me it was her incredible energy during her performance.

040-062-queenie-valentine-4.jpg

Queenie Valentine.  Great act, lots of character.

012-084-glory-pearl-2.jpg

And the hostesses of the evening, burlesque and cabaret veteran Glory Pearl.  Combining pole work, ariel antics, comedy and plenty of sass, First Time Follies was lucky enough to have this talented lady announcing the various acts.

014-skinny-pete.jpg

I’ve heard one performer name him ‘Darling Pete’.  The man behind the magic of Skinny Pete Promotions.

027-severine-and-domino.jpg

Two of the Judges, Serverine Sinful and Domino Burlesk, performers and promoters with tons of experience.  Well qualified for the job.  Domino managed to come along despite feeling poorly so well done.

030-032-pixie-frisk-1.jpg

The beautiful Pixie Frisk.  wonderful expressions on this performer who comes from an acting background.  Super outfit, great act and wonderful girl.

And finally Miss Vivica Devine who was along for the show, but is a talented performer in her own right.

Gypsy Hotel NYE

Well its been a week of snow and I’ve been hard at work sorting out my massive photo library. Some measure of organisation is forming so look forward to plenty of new stuff.

So Gypsy Hotel ran a new years eve night at Bardens in London and it was a intimate and fun affair. We had various act, including live music from, Ria Green, Rasp Thorne, Matt Millership and The Urban Voodoo Machine, and dark cabaret from Captian Howdy’s Flying Circus, Suri Sumatra, Lady Ane Angel and Lalla Morte with Chris Martin.  Everyone was on top form BUT THE URBAN VOODOO MACHINE were just inspiring, giving everyone a huge treat, filling the stage and managing to move around plenty despite the squeeze, for more than two hours.

All the performers stood up and gave us a little Midnight show which was a treat. Here a few shots and a gallery of performers and portraits. Follow the links below for facebook albums and links to more Urban Voodoo Machine photos on their website.
Happy New Year and lets hope 2010 is the start to a great decade.

The Pogues

December 2009 saw The Pogues play Brixton Academy and I was lucky enough to get a photo pass through Spider Stacey who I met on Holiday in Norway this year. Thank you Spider and Louise.

At these larger gigs you take photos from the pit, the small space between the stage and the crowd. The rules are usually first three songs with no flash, then all the photographers get escorted out of the main stage and to an office. I guess usually the photographers then leave but I wanted to see the show too. So I had to leave my cameras in the office. It took the staff about ten minutes to convince me my cameras would be safe and then I finally got to see the show. Cracking night. Click for larger pics.

Studio Time with Dr Will

The Urban Voodoo Machine are hard a work on their next album, and last Friday I caught up with PR Angel and Dr. Will and his band in the studio. It was great to be witness to some of the magic happening as Dr. Will recorded some backing vocals for the UVM’s album. It all finished off with a unplanned B Side track that was great to witness and I even joined in with a whistle or two. Follow the link below for more photos on the band’s site.

Enjoy these photos of the session.

Nightingale Sisters

Last week I caught up with the Nightingale Sisters at the lovely Mary Jane venue in Tower Hill, London.  The girls sang for over an hour at this christmas event and added a sense of style with their classic show tunes.

Charlene Weston and Deborah Wilkins make up the duo and are The Timeless Beauties. The Nightingale Sisters is only one of their many themed acts. Thanks to both the girls for the invite.

The Urban Voodoo Machine and The New York Dolls

Friday 4th of December saw the Urban Voodoo Machine support the legendary New York Dolls.  I was thrilled to personally meet some of the dolls backstage.  The Voodoo Machine were on fire and played an amazing show to an appreciative crowd.  No pictures of the Dolls in this post but will save it for the future and include a few backstage shots.

Open Mic Uk Finals

Saturday 28th November saw the finals for the Open Mic Uk competition in Portsmouth’s Guildhall.  I was invited along by DistractTV for the 18 to 24 year old category.  Its was great event and I had lots of fun shooting the show from upstairs.  I had the floor to myself which was a real bonus.  The standard was high but I think the winner was well chosen.  Links below to Distract TV and a free photo gallery of the night.  Get in touch if you want hi res versions or prints.  Thanks to Gita and Abid for the pizza! Fantastic to work with you both.
